ABOUT JAYLEN STARR

Kimberlee Jaylen LaShuk, better known as Jaylen Starr, has been thrilling her fans with her unique style and genre-bending sounds since 2018; taking them on an electronic musical journey that fuses EDM, Progressive House, and Dubstep with a Pop twist.      Born in Brooklyn, NY, and raised on Long Island in the town of Massapequa Park, Jaylen is a proud member of the transgender community. She developed a passion for music at an early age where she received an education in Music History from her late Uncle Richie. Jaylen was invited to venture into “The Attic”. This was an unfinished part of the house that contained nothing but milk crates full of vinyl records and an old turntable sitting on the floor in the center of the room. Here, she would spend her time learning the sounds of the 60’s and 70’s Classic and Progressive Rock on Vinyl. Artists like The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Yes, and Frank Zappa were just a few of the legends she discovered. As a result, Jaylen developed a taste for technical, progressive rock, which, when combined with the 80’s Synthwave she had already gained appreciation for, heavily influenced the complexity and maturity of her music she now writes and produces today.        Jaylen soon joined the band Flirt, where she would spend the next 15 years playing bass guitar and sharing lead vocals with frontman Liam Holohan. She quickly got a taste of the road, traveling and performing all up and down the East Coast from Bangor, ME to Miami, FL.       Jaylen has since evolved with the changing face of the music industry, as new technology and smaller studios began to become the norm post-pandemic. She began producing Electronic Music at home and has since released, 4 full-length LP’s, 8 EP’s, and 3 Singles. Her debut album “Singularity” sparked her new career with fan favorites “Requiem”, “Gamma”, and “Supersonic”. Since then, she continued to release an exciting and diverse repertoire consisting of more favorites such as “Lifeline”, “Nasty”, “Chemical Lust” and “Thinking of You”.      February of 2023 marked a turning point for Jaylen’s music as she began experimenting with her vocals again. The 4 track EP “hypnotized” has become one of her most popular productions. The title track, “hypnoTized”, quickly became one of her most streamed songs followed closely by “Pieces”, both of which added a new layer of Trance-inspired, melodic beats and melodies with ambient vocals that border on hypnotic.      Her most recent release and most successful project to date is the album “Gone Away” released in July 2023, which contained her most successful single to date, “Road Less Travelled” where she pays homage to the great American Poet “Robert Frost”. This album offers a nostalgic vibe and shows Jaylen’s vulnerability and broken heart as she mends from an unexpected breakup and regains self-confidence and independence.      Jaylen Starr now resides in New York City and is currently attending Los Angeles Recording School, fine-tuning her production techniques while she continues to create new music to delight her audience. Currently, Jaylen is working on her 5th studio album and seeks to one day start a non-profit recording studio where she can allow young, talented, yet underprivileged, diverse, inner-city youth to receive music production services, mentorship, and music education in a safe environment. This program will provide a safe place for young, LGBTQ+, and Cisgender teens while emphasizing Acceptance, Teamwork, and Collaboration, as well as teaching Leadership, Communication, Organizational, and Time Management skills to aspiring artists and engineers who would otherwise not be able to afford these services.
